Harris Labs is a business in Lincoln, Nebraska that tests new pharmeceudicals on humans, and provides a way for people to supplement their income as long as they're willing to put potentially unsafe substances into their bodies. A lot of times they have a targeted "study" for people who meet certain criteria such as studies for smokers, obese folks, or people who have a trick knee, etc. There's always horror stories of people coming out of Harris paralyzed or dead, but I've never heard any real evidence of this. For a year my phone number was one digit off from the Harris Labs phone number so I consequently got a lot of people who dialed my number by mistake saying (in their scratchy voices), "I'm a smoker, I'm calling about the $900..." or "I have diabetes, I'd like to talk to you." This is one of the many odd messages I received.
