Watched UNDER THE SAND tonight, a French film that would have never been made in the US because it portrays the romantic life of a 50 year old woman.. a subject that no US studio would touch (bet you can’t name one movie where the leading role is a 50-something woman). Women’s roles (despite the actual age of the actor) in US movies either have to be under 40 and “still” sexy or over 60 and grandmotherly.
The movie stars Charlotte Rampling, who played a vividly schizophrenic woman in Woody Allen’s STARDUST MEMORIES.

I'm not going to start a debate about whether Susan Sarandon is sexy. I'm just not going to do it.
But what movie was she in where she played a main character who was 50-something and sexy?

Frances McDormand is totally sexy, but she's not 50 yet. Has anyone seen Laurel Canyon yet? Any good?

I saw the Golden Globe awards tonite and was quite set of by Susan Serandon's comment. Her undertone performance that The Lord of the Rings was nothing but a special effects feast is crap. She and Tim Robbins are so full of them selfs. They need to get of there high horse.
As for The Lord of the Rings It won best Picture among other things. So Susan eat that!!!!
