Here is an example of the vast online infrastructure the northwest has in its regional and local government: the Seattle Department of Transportation has a pothole repair page on its web site. Word on the street (yuk, yuk) says that after filing a report, potholes are often fixed the very next day.

indeed. after being tipped off about this myself, i filed a request and voila! the potholes are now being filled along my bike commuting route. it took them one day to go out and spray paint spot that needed to be filled, but it took them a little more than a week to actually start filling the holes. what a bunch of slackers!

now if they would just do some street sweeping, i might just vote for greg nickels again.
